Among the strategies that a novice nurse practitioner can employ to transition to a professional role is seeking a mentor and sticking by them.  This is because mentors play a very important role in individual and professional development.  A mentor will be a person that will connect the nurse to professional links, training, seminars, evidence-based practice opportunities, and recommending one to other physicians or patients (Twedell, 2015). Mentors are also important in offering support and guidance in case of any challenge during the nursing practice.  However, one should not just go for any mentor, and they need to ensure that the one they choose is experienced in practice and is ready to work with them.

One will be required to manage more patients, guide other nurses, organize shift schedules, and at times, administer medication.  This calls for the practice of punctuality and setting the positive tone of the day. Among recommendations is one can manage time well with a ‘to do ‘list, avoiding multi-tasking, establishing deadlines, and learning to delegate (Shatto, Meyer, & Delicath, 2016).
