What are the 4 Cs of communication?

4Cs in Communication Response

The four Cs of communication in nursing include; Clear, Concise, Correct and Complete.  These are very important aspects in nursing practice.  These four Cs have a great control and speed of delivery in the nursing practice as they also help in improving communication among the nurse, other physicians and patients.  For a nurse who practices and implements the four Cs, they are bound to see a lot of changes in the way they relate with their patients and how they deliver in their shifts (Hodson, 2013). They will guide the individual nurse to their destination, help them realize their errors and help in coming up with alternative ways of communicating.  For example, during the delivery of medication to a patient, being clear and concise is very important, this avoids cases where patients overdose or fail to take other medications as required.  It is important that as a practicing nurse, the four Cs become part and parcel of their practice. This is what makes the nurse know that what they are doing is correct as per the four Cs; they help the nurse to set their pace and control on what they emphasize on their patients (Hodson, 2013).  When writing a medical report, it is important to come up with shorter paragraphs at a faster pace and less formal. The four Cs are all practiced together and will only be said to have been achieved when the message is driven home. This can only be done when information has been completed and presented for implementation.
